Minutes of the Aiken Pickledillys Leadership Team – January Meeting  1/7/2019

Attending: Dick Diemar, Gene Thomas, Grace Vance, Diane Voss, Nancy Racki, Vicki Thomas, Linda Blake, Daniel Davis, Nancy Vermilye, Joyce Noland, Ron Nelson, Barb Burns, Stephanie Wolfe,  Mike Beckner, Mo Garcia, Barb Dellamora

Joyce Noland brought the meeting to order at 5:30pm. She welcomed Ron Nelson and Dan Davis to the Leadership Team.

There will be a Round Robin on January 12.  Three volunteers are needed for each of three sessions:

8-11am, 11-3pm, and 3-7pm.  Volunteers should be there fifteen minutes before session begins.

Anyone with a split 3.5/4.0 rating must use the 4.0+ method.  If one rating is 4.0, the player must use the 4.0 rule whether playing mixed or men/women.

Update on Gregg Civic Center:

A meeting will be set up with Seth.

In 2019 those age 62 or older can join for a lifetime fee of $45, and there is no extra charge for PB.

Under 62 the yearly fee is $55.

According to Seth, there are up to four courts in gym and he will propose a schedule.  Tentative schedule is 9-12 Tuesday  and Thursday and 10-1 Monday and Wednesday.

There will be no court reservation play at this time.

Recap money from First Presbyterian: In December $355 was donated to the church.

Clinics have been increased to a total of six people on one court.

There was discussion regarding  individuals signing up for a court and paying to take a lesson on that court.  Mo Garcia stated that he did not see that as workable administratively.

Court Allocation: any individual can only be on Odell courts a maximum of three times per week.

Can a person who has a group get two courts a day if playing with different people and no one is playing more than three times? The answer is yes.

Possible change of time slots for DIP/CRP. Discussion involved players leaving early, and should the time slots be shortened?  Some groups have a larger number of people resulting in players staying longer because more players are rotating in and out.  It was re-iterated that a player cannot sign up for open play and court reservation play on the same day.  The decision was to leave the policy as it is.

Rules Challenge:  A new challenge will start in January. Scores must be confirmed with a screenshot.  This challenge is for Aiken Pickledillys only (players on the active player list.)

2018 Fall League Update:  A volunteer league director  is needed for Spring League.

The slippery floors in gym 2 seem to be better.  It would help if people wiped their shoes before playing, or changed to different shoes when they play.

Players who join USAPA in January (new memberships only) will get $20 off any Paddletek paddle or a free Manta paddle.  Membership must be confirmed with a screenshot.  The voucher and purchase must be processed through Mo Power Sport LLC.

Player Reps shared some input on the possibility of sharing on the Website the idea that we are friends and family to each other, and we can reach out to each other when times are hard, or when a friend is needed.

The meeting adjourned at 6:25.  The next meeting will be Monday, February 4 at 5:30.

Respectfully  submitted,

Marcia Gable
