During this period when there is no indoor open play, it was suggested that we create a sign up for players who would like to play/sub, but don’t have their own group. Under the “Sign ups” tab you will find a new selection “OW Sub List”. This list is for players to sign up if they would be willing to sub, or for groups that need a sub, or for singles looking for partners to play pickleball. Players should enter the days of week they are available to play, times available (morning/afternoon), contact information (email address and/or phone number).
The outdoor pickleball courts at Virginia Acres Park and Eustis Park will reopen on Saturday, May 30. Gates are scheduled to be unlocked by 8 am. A list of guidelines will be posted on the courts. When we receive a copy they will also be posted on this website.
Indoor pickleball at Odell Weeks will resume on Monday, June 1. Only court reservation play will be allowed indoors, with a minimum of two, maximum of four people allowed on each court. Weekday reservation slots will be 9am - 10:30 AM, 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM, 12:30 – 2:00 PM, and 2:15 – 3:45 PM. Only courts 1, 3, 4 and 6 will be available for play. The middle courts (2 & 5) will be closed to facilitate social distancing.
Reservation slots will be posted on the Sign-up Genius on Thursday, May 28th at 8:00 AM for the week of June 1-6. There is play on Saturday, June 6th from 9:15am - 4:15 PM. The screen asking for an access code will be removed when the courts are available for reservation. YOU WILL NOT NEED AN ACCESS CODE IN ORDER TO RESERVE A COURT. A player may only make/appear on two reservations for the first 24 hours after the courts are posted. If there are still free courts on Friday morning at 8:00 AM, players may make/appear on one additional sign-up. On the actual day of the play, a player may reserve any open court for that day.
Players need to leave the courts promptly at the end of the time period so that city employees may disinfect the courts. You should bring your own pickleballs.
Players will need to check in at the front desk and sign a new waiver. The check-in computer will be behind the desk with Jeana, who will manually check people in after they scan their cards. Check-in times will be a little longer than usual.
There will be no indoor or outdoor pickleball offered at Smith-Hazel from the time of reopening though August 14 due to day camp.
A complete list of the guidelines from the City of Aiken is posted at http://aikenpickleball.com/OWOpeningGuidelinesCOVID
PLEASE READ THESE GUIDELINES CAREFULLY.
Thanks in advance to everyone for following the guidelines so that we may continue to be given an opportunity to play indoor pickleball.

These are COVID-19 Approved provided that you follow all appropriate guidelines for safe play. The two players in the video are from the same household, definitely COVID-19 Approved. These games are a good way to get back into the swing of things as we move out of social distancing.
This is an entertaining video that says what a lot of us are feeling. Thanks, Rasheka, for sharing it with us.
