I. Player Representative Input

Jay stated that someone is not very positive during Open Play at OW and wanted to know how to handle the negativity because it is turning people off and even causing others to not play. To remedy the situation Ben thought getting him involved with the LTM might help and has invited him to the meeting; however, he has not attended. Ben will again talk to him and try to help curb the attitude.

Net Maintenance and Parts-Mo

Mo showed replacement parts. Maintenance needs to be aware of these and then tell Mo when they get low on parts so new ones can be made and put on the shelf. He states that the design is not bad. The part is getting ruined by people taking the nets down carelessly. He is keen on the $5 option that he sent around the room for us to observe. Froggie brought up possible concern. Before addressing this we will just use the new prototype and see how it works.

J. Gregg Park RR March 5-Joyce

Went well. 69 participated. The 2.5 scramble was added. Faith and Linda were invaluable. Survey comments were very positive. People liked that there wasn’t time between playing. Didn’t have to sit for long! Constructive criticism…people were too close to courts. Will monitor this next year. News article written by Ben will be on the website later this week. PB Brackets software used for the first time. It was efficient.

K. 2022 City Challenge June 11-Joyce

A lot of positive responses from other cities (6). Aiken is a little slower. There are no age brackets. Can play in two events.

L. Palmetto Tournament-Bob

Next meeting is Thursday. Working on the user guide for the tournament. He put a whole bunch of documents into one guide. Right now it is 56 pages.

There was a question of what to do with the raffle proceeds. Beth Eberhard talked about where these funds (from 2021) may go. Lorie Seacrest, at Aiken Intermediate, is PE Teacher and a coordinator for all PE teachers. The money could be used for her to get PB started at her school. Mo asked her to be the coordinator for the junior tournament. Since she is involved with the whole county Lorie could help decide who the next recipient is.

There was discussion on the money raised for the Palmetto and where it goes. The city gets the proceeds. $6000 was approximate net amt. Mo states that this is a good relationship with the city for letting us use OW.

M. Social- Chili cook off was canceled due to it getting hot outside.

Future events-Pat Smith/Ben Lacy. Perhaps next month. Ben is taking it over from Pat Smith. Sandwiches were done last time from Pat’s. This may be an option for next month.

N. Player Development-Mo

Nothing to report.

O. Ambassador Report-Mo

  1. SC Senior Games. City tried to host it in the past. Trying to get 9 events for the district. PB was one of the 9.

  2. Aiken District Update. Nothing to report.

Final Comments

Ben Lacy will do the next NP clinic.

Faith had a question of exactly what is needed for calendar and SUG. She wants to tell the people she knows about it. Ben explained in detail what is needed. John McGowan is volunteering for the job. Others, Jay Wilson and Lee Fox may be backups.

No comments from anyone. Next meeting is April 4, 5:30. OW. Meeting adjourned at 6:40 pm.
