Minutes for May 2026 Leadership Team Meeting

Minutes for May Leadership Team Meeting held on Wednesday May 6.

Members Present:  Judy DeGregorio, Linda Blake, Dean Cheatham, Heidi Abele, Marcia Stivanson, Jean Villa, Mo Garcia, Lori Cromshaw, Jody Madden, Joyce Noland, Marian Garcia, George Carr, and Cheryl Breidenbach.

Members reviewed and approved the meeting minutes as displayed on the API website with Lori moving to accept them.  George seconded.  Passed.

Lori thanked the Transition Committee for their suggestions for charitable donation recipients.  Cheryl and Lori briefly explained the missions of the six charities.  Joyce handed out the listing, further explaining the charities.

Members voted.  The numbers were tallied and the three top charities receiving the most votes were Turning Pages, Friends of the Library, and Adaptive Pickleball.  The board agreed to the leadership team’s vote.  All funds, after expenses are paid, will be distributed to these three organizations equally.

Old Business:

A.    Joyce has two computers that will remain in her possession so they are not misplaced or mishandled, as might happen if they were left somewhere else.   These can be used for future tournaments that may be held.   Mo has extra medals which will remain in his possession.  Judy brought up that the dividers at Greff Paek are in need  of repair.    Mo stated that GP  is responsible for maintaining and  replacing the  nets and dividers just as the City is responsible for the pickleball related equipment at Odell and Smith-Hazel.

B.  Lori read the letter from Jessica accepting the dissolution of API  as of July 1.  It's possible  all courts will revert to an open play status  as other cities do this.  Most attendees thought this would be a disaster.  Mo has a meeting with the City next week and will try to get the city to agree to a volunteer maintaining the SUG after July 1.

C.  Mo Power Sports still has an MOU with the City.

New Business:

A.  The last social will be June 26 at 5pm.  Lori will reserve the large room for our last meeting. Jean will bring supplies.  Marian, Heidi and Marcia will handle food.  Joyce will send out a list of previous team members.  She asks that we review this list and add people that were missed.

B.  Linda Blake brought up a concern that New Players Clinics will not be held.  Mo assured her that they will be held and her services will be greatly appreciated.  All were happy that this service will remain.

C.  Jean and Mo will handle the bulletin board in the future.  All appreciated this action too.

D.  A wish list for new/repaired equipment, tournaments, signage’s, etc., will be handled by Mo.  He will interface with the City.   Please talk with him if any ideas arise.

Next meeting will be June 26, 5pm, at Odell Weeks.
